What is KYC/AML?

In order to invest through CoinList, you need to pass identity verification and Know You Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) checks. These checks apply equally to U.S. and non-U.S. residents. You will need to provide your name, address, a selfie, and a photograph of a government-issued ID, among other information.

New users who have passed KYC verification should automatically have access to wallets and trading, subject to additional jurisdiction restrictions. You can complete your registration at https://coinlist.co/wallets/new.

For more information about CoinList’s jurisdictional restrictions and our BSA/AML program, visit our Legal Disclosures page.

Why do you need my Social Security Number? (U.S. only)

Your SSN is required under our KYC/AML policy, a process set by our banking provider. We verify U.S. investors’ social security numbers and birthdates against credit records and then verify the investment signatory against OFAC and similar databases to flag prohibited or high risk persons and entities.

Why am I failing KYC due to an “unsupported ID”?

CoinList determines which government-issued ID types are acceptable for each country/jurisdiction we service. We may change the list of acceptable documents in order to comply with our compliance program.
